Understanding visual status indicators and countdowns
Krina uses visual indicators to help you see at a glance how much time you have to act. These indicators update automatically as deadlines approach.
Deadline countdown labels
Section titled “Deadline countdown labels”Below every urgency badge, you’ll see a label showing how much time is left:
| Label | Meaning | When it appears |
|---|---|---|
| OVERDUE | The deadline has passed | Deadline date is in the past |
| TODAY | Due by end of today | Deadline is today |
| SOON | Due within 1–3 days | Deadline is within the next 1–3 days |
| In X days | Specific day count | Deadline is 4+ days away (e.g. “In 5 days”) |
These labels update automatically as time passes. An item labeled “In 2 days” will change to “Tomorrow” and then “TODAY” as the deadline approaches.
Urgency escalation arrow
Section titled “Urgency escalation arrow”If an urgency badge has a small up arrow (↑) next to it, it means the urgency was automatically raised as the deadline got closer. For example:
- A mention classified as HIGH escalated to CRITICAL because the deadline is now today
- A NORMAL mention escalated to HIGH because the deadline is within 1–3 days
The arrow indicates: This wasn’t the original urgency — it escalated automatically. You can see what the original urgency was by opening the mention.
Urgent color coding
Section titled “Urgent color coding”Urgency badges use distinct colors so you can spot what needs attention:
- CRITICAL — Red or bright orange (stop everything)
- HIGH — Orange (today or very soon)
- NORMAL — Gray or neutral (standard priority)
- LOW — Light gray (can wait)
Follow-up date badges
Section titled “Follow-up date badges”Follow-up dates appear as a separate badge or chip:
- “Tomorrow” or “In 2 days” — Upcoming reminder
- “Aug 20” — Specific date (future)
- “OVERDUE” — Follow-up date has passed
Click the date to edit it or remove the follow-up.
How urgency changes over time
Section titled “How urgency changes over time”Krina checks deadlines once per day. Here’s how escalation works:
- Day 1: Mention classified as HIGH (deadline in 5 days) → “In 5 days”
- Day 2: Still HIGH → “In 4 days”
- Day 3: Still HIGH → “In 3 days”
- Day 4: Escalates to CRITICAL (deadline within 1–3 days) → arrow appears, “In 2 days”
- Day 5: Stays CRITICAL → “Tomorrow”
- Day 6: Stays CRITICAL → “TODAY”
- Day 7: Stays CRITICAL → “OVERDUE”
Important: Urgency only escalates UP, never down. Once something is CRITICAL, it stays CRITICAL even after the deadline passes.
Tracked item indicator
Section titled “Tracked item indicator”Personal reminders (items you tracked with “Track this”) show a bell icon instead of a calendar icon. This visual distinction tells you at a glance which items are personal reminders vs. mentions.
Using these indicators to prioritize
Section titled “Using these indicators to prioritize”- CRITICAL + TODAY → Do this first
- CRITICAL + SOON → Do this today
- HIGH → Do this this week
- NORMAL → Do this this month
- LOW → Do this when you have time
The visual indicators make this scanning instant — you don’t need to read each badge carefully.
