Understanding visual status indicators and countdowns

Krina uses visual indicators to help you see at a glance how much time you have to act. These indicators update automatically as deadlines approach.

Below every urgency badge, you’ll see a label showing how much time is left:

LabelMeaningWhen it appears
OVERDUEThe deadline has passedDeadline date is in the past
TODAYDue by end of todayDeadline is today
SOONDue within 1–3 daysDeadline is within the next 1–3 days
In X daysSpecific day countDeadline is 4+ days away (e.g. “In 5 days”)

These labels update automatically as time passes. An item labeled “In 2 days” will change to “Tomorrow” and then “TODAY” as the deadline approaches.

If an urgency badge has a small up arrow (↑) next to it, it means the urgency was automatically raised as the deadline got closer. For example:

  • A mention classified as HIGH escalated to CRITICAL because the deadline is now today
  • A NORMAL mention escalated to HIGH because the deadline is within 1–3 days

The arrow indicates: This wasn’t the original urgency — it escalated automatically. You can see what the original urgency was by opening the mention.

Urgency badges use distinct colors so you can spot what needs attention:

  • CRITICAL — Red or bright orange (stop everything)
  • HIGH — Orange (today or very soon)
  • NORMAL — Gray or neutral (standard priority)
  • LOW — Light gray (can wait)

Follow-up dates appear as a separate badge or chip:

  • “Tomorrow” or “In 2 days” — Upcoming reminder
  • “Aug 20” — Specific date (future)
  • “OVERDUE” — Follow-up date has passed

Click the date to edit it or remove the follow-up.

Krina checks deadlines once per day. Here’s how escalation works:

  1. Day 1: Mention classified as HIGH (deadline in 5 days) → “In 5 days”
  2. Day 2: Still HIGH → “In 4 days”
  3. Day 3: Still HIGH → “In 3 days”
  4. Day 4: Escalates to CRITICAL (deadline within 1–3 days) → arrow appears, “In 2 days”
  5. Day 5: Stays CRITICAL → “Tomorrow”
  6. Day 6: Stays CRITICAL → “TODAY”
  7. Day 7: Stays CRITICAL → “OVERDUE”

Important: Urgency only escalates UP, never down. Once something is CRITICAL, it stays CRITICAL even after the deadline passes.

Personal reminders (items you tracked with “Track this”) show a bell icon instead of a calendar icon. This visual distinction tells you at a glance which items are personal reminders vs. mentions.

  1. CRITICAL + TODAY → Do this first
  2. CRITICAL + SOON → Do this today
  3. HIGH → Do this this week
  4. NORMAL → Do this this month
  5. LOW → Do this when you have time

The visual indicators make this scanning instant — you don’t need to read each badge carefully.
